Aurangabad, Maharashtra — December 14, 2025:
The Bombay High Court (Aurangabad Bench) overturned the Maharashtra government’s decision to appoint the district collector as administrator of the Shree Shanaishwar Devasthan Trust at Shingnapur.
The court found that the government’s resolution bypassed statutory procedures under the Shingnapur Trust Act, 2018, and infringed on trust members’ rights under Articles 14 and 300A of the Constitution. Consequently, the High Court restored administrative control to the elected board of trustees, declaring all actions taken under the government order — including an ad hoc committee formation — invalid.
The order emphasized that executive intervention requires strict adherence to statutory mandates and cannot substitute due legal process.
